Promenaid Handrails: A Modern, Modular Rail for Indoor and Outdoor Stairs

A handrail is one of the few things in your home that you touch every single day. It should feel good in your hand, and it should look like it belongs. That is exactly why we like Promenaid handrails. They are slim, clean-lined and made from modular parts, so they can follow your stairs instead of forcing your stairs to fit the rail.
Here is what makes them a strong choice for homeowners, whether you are updating a staircase inside, a porch or deck outside, or both.
A style that suits almost any home
Promenaid rails have a slim, round profile that is comfortable to grip, with clean hardware and no fussy detail. The look is modern enough for a contemporary stairwell, but simple enough to sit comfortably in a traditional house or a heritage-style townhome.
The same rail comes in several metal colours and in real wood, so you can match your trim, your flooring or your front door, or make the rail a feature on purpose.
Made for indoors and outdoors
Many handrail systems are meant for inside only. Promenaid’s satin-anodized aluminum finishes are made for use indoors and out, in wet or dry conditions. That makes them a good fit for exterior stairs, porches, decks and entry steps, which matters in a climate with as much rain as ours.
Using one rail system inside and out also keeps the look consistent from the front door to the top floor.
Modular, and still one continuous rail
This is where Promenaid really stands out. Instead of a rail that is cut and welded to order, it is built from tubing, brackets and adjustable bends. The bends lock firmly in place with a twist of an Allen key, so the rail can turn at any angle, wrap around a landing, or follow a change in slope. There is no welding and no pipe bending on site.
The result is a smooth rail with no awkward breaks, which is especially welcome on stairs with turns or more than one flight. The brackets lock into the channel under the rail, so they can be placed where your wall studs are. The screws stay out of sight, and a bracket can be moved later if you ever need to. Rails are made to measure, made in North America, and Promenaid states that delivery can take as little as 48 hours.
A comfortable grip, with a rubber insert
Promenaid also offers an anti-slip insert that adds a rubber grip along the rail. If you like the idea of a little extra confidence when your hands are wet, cold or full, it is a simple upgrade that does not change the clean look of the rail. Ask us about it when we plan your handrail.
Colour and style options
The metal rails come in a range of durable satin-anodized finishes. Based on Promenaid’s swatches, the choices include:

Bronze
Matte black
White
Warm grey
Satin silver
Black is a popular choice for a crisp, modern contrast against light walls.
You can also choose the details that change how the rail looks and finishes: Flush or ADA Return end caps (the return curves the end back to the wall), Pivoting or Sprocketlock brackets, and hardware finishes that match or contrast with the rail.
Wood options for indoor stairs
If you want the warmth of wood, Promenaid’s TrueWood™ rails are the answer. A thin veneer of genuine Oak or Walnut is permanently bonded to the aluminum core, so it looks and feels like real wood because it is real wood. The aluminum core keeps the rail straight and strong.

Light oak tone
Natural wood tone
Walnut tone
One note: wood is best kept indoors, in dry areas. For porches, decks and outdoor steps, choose one of the metal finishes. The swatches above are a guide only. We will confirm the exact finish names and colours with you at your assessment.
A recent project: matching wood on both sides of the stairs
We recently worked with a client in a three-floor duplex. They already had wood handrails on one side of the stairs and planned to have matching wood rails made for the other side. When they saw the Promenaid rails, they liked them, and once they were installed, they loved them.
It is a good example of why the system works so well in duplexes and townhomes. Stairs run through several floors, with landings and turns, and the rail needs to be continuous and neat the whole way. A modular rail handles that without custom fabrication.
Is a Promenaid handrail right for your home?
If you want a handrail that looks sharp, holds up indoors and out, and can follow your stairs around any turn, Promenaid is hard to beat. You can see more on our Handrails page.
